Barter trade between Europe and Cambodia - what's the beauty of it?
If you are our customers or if you are thinking about acquiring a small piece of Cambodia for your kitchen, know that this purchase will not only delight us, but above all you will support the families of farmers living in the Kampot region of Cambodia, where our pepper is grown.
Helping is necessary - but effective
Every day these people face a much different reality than what we are used to in our modern European environment. While many things do not work as they should in our country, the vast majority of us at least have the security of a social and health safety net that has our back and can help when things are at their worst.
Unfortunately, in Cambodia they have no such thing. The whole country is still recovering from a difficult past, and every local family has to fend for themselves, as no one else will do it for them. Unavailable medical assistance, a very austere education system and a poor job market are the reasons why life here is so different from ours.
We could learn a lot from the values of the Cambodians
Yet life among the rainforests and pepper plantations is cleaner, and quite possibly happier. If you wanted to find a person in Cambodia who was not positive and constantly grinning from ear to ear, you would be looking for a really long time. For these people have learned to make a great fortune out of little and to take every little thing as an opportunity for joy.
And that is exactly why we want to make a barter between us Europeans and the positive Cambodians. We Europeans will send a chunk of our Western wealth to Cambodia, with which the farmers there will afford healthcare and send their children to school. In return, they will scent our kitchens with the unique Kampot pepper and teach us that the greatest wealth is not in our bank accounts, but in our hearts and the way we view the world around us.
"Extremely unique product with a great drive behind them. Awesome product and customer service. Perfect for a gift to impress your in-laws, boss or clients."
"First time I tasted Kampot pepper on our vacation in Cambodia, it was phenomenal! I am ordering the Kampot pepper from Amazon ever since. Now when I have an option to order from the smallest farmers, I can have great feeling whenever I open the pack as a bonus to the best taste."
"Got the pepper, it is very unique. I found it had more flavor and the aroma was wonderful. The pepper came in a small well sealed package. The ground pepper was a little spicier than regular black pepper, but not too spicy. I think it was most likely just fresher and delivered in better condition."
